Start the walk almost exactly on the Perth & Kinross and Angus boundary where there is room to park a couple of cars off the road. Head eastwards along the road for 500m to reach a gate on your right hand side and the start of a grassy track up the hill. The track provides an easy ascent up the northern shoulder passing trough a gate at approximately the half way point. The summit area is crowned with a trig point, cairn, shelter/view indicator and communications mast!

On a clear day you can see north across the Glenshee hills to the Cairngorms whilst the views south open up across fertile farmland.

For a short day out you can return by your ascent route or if you don’t mind walking over rough heather / grassland simply follow the wall that heads down the north west slope. As you reach the lower slopes stick to the right hand side of the trees to reach the road close to your start point.

For a longer day follow a path alongside a wall in a south easterly direction. The path turns south towards the outcrop of Over Craig passing over a couple of stiles on route. When you reach a dip in the ground where the path becomes more feint cross over the wall at a gap where the fence wire is broken. Turn right (west) away from the rising ground across rough heather for about 350m to reach the start of an obvious track.

This track now takes you down the hill through increasingly agricultural ground to reach the quiet road at Blacklunans. Keep an eye out for an old watermill to your right. Turn right onto the road towards an old red phone box now used as a community library. Keep right at the junction after the phone box and follow the quiet road for 3.5km to the old church at Cray. Turn right again at the junction and walk along the road (a bit more traffic than the previous road) to reach your start point.
