Those of you who are into “bagging” hills of all heights and sizes, or even just exploring them, may be familiar with the excellent website https://www.hill-bagging.co.uk/. Although the site is reasonably mobile friendly up until now there has not been a dedicated mobile app to support it.
All that has changed…….
Recently released is the Hill Bagging app for both iPhone and Android. The app like the website incorporates a very comprehensive collection of hill lists. From the well known, Munros, Corbetts and Grahams to the lesser frequented Tumps and Simms, they are all there. 114 hills in Fife are listed!
Taking its data directly from the Database of British and Irish Hills you can be confident that the app is both up to date and as accurate as it can be. In some cases more accurate than conventional mapping.
Whilst the app doesn’t (yet) have the advanced search functionality or the full choice of base maps of the website, it is a convenient way of checking information whilst out “on the go”, especially if you are trying to confirm the exact summit of a hill or check height details.
Use the app to record your own ascents and view other users logs to get hints and tips for good (and best avoided) routes up the hills.
