Birnie and Gaddon Lochs
This Fife Coast and Countryside Trust nature reserve offers a very pleasant short stroll around two man-made lochans. The reserve consists of a mix of open water, wetland and woodland and is home to a variety of wildlife and plantlife.
The path around the lochans is surfaced and built to an “all abilities” standard, thus making it very suitable for most people. A walk around both lochs, including the path in between them, is approximately 1.8 miles (2.9 km) in length with minimal ascent. A shorter walk is possible by just walking round one of the lochs, either Birnie Loch whicih is 0.75 miles or Gaddon Loch which is 1 mile. There is ample car parking with picnic benches and interpretation boards, at grid reference NO 28363 12533 off the B937 Charlottestown to Collessie road.
